Gameplay

The gameplay is straightforward. walk. jump, shoot, and aim. (This is a twin shooter). The gameplay is fluent and a great experience. The Mobius Effect is a 2D Metroidvania platformer. There’s a lot of exploring and discovering blueprints & other items to progress through the game. With a standard controller, you use the left stick to walk and the right to shoot. Ammo is unlimited. As you progress you collect items for upgrading weapons etc which enables you to progress further in the game. You also collect additional items to reveal more of the map to help you on your journey.

Graphics and Sound

Graphically the game is superb with lots of colour and smooth framerate. As you decrease in health a red glow appears around the edge of the screen adding to the atmosphere. Water is also quite good with a liquid look which adds to the charm of the graphics. I would say the industrial look suits and complements The Mobius Machine very well.

Game audio is always an important part of the game. This is no exception. Music is very atmospheric with crisp sound effects throughout adding to the experience. Shooting at objects depending on the colours makes a very satisfying splatter sound effect.

Accessibility

Not much here in the means of accessibility. No colour blind options or anything to that effect. Controls can be remapped in the controller options, well almost. Being a twin stick you can remap the aim from the right analogue to left same with shoot. For disability been able to map the direction pad to these functions would have been more ideal for certain disabilities.

Overall Thoughts

The Mobius Machine is one of those games that look good, plays good with nice sound effects but is limited in gameplay. Light puzzle solving is present but nothing to bring you back after a full playthrough.
