Saints Row developer Volition are rebooting the Saints Row franchise, and on August 23rd 2022, it is back with a vengeance. Deep Silver Volition are bringing a bigger, badder and more brilliantly ridiculous Saints Row than ever, with vast customisation options across the entire game. Players can design their character, Saints, HQ, vehicles and take over the map in the all new, rebooted, Saints Row. Below, we will give you the ‘deets’ on just how far these customisation choices go. Just to warn you, it’s like Skyrim on steroids. Before we summarise, lets have a look at the summer showcase of Saints Row from 2021.

Saints Row Character customisation

Clearly one of the things Volition were most proud of here. They really drilled down on just how far you can go. There are a large number of pre-sets that players can choose from to then do what the want with. The idea being to make it as close to the design you want. But yeh, in the new Saints Row, it is so easy to make a truly unique character, because of how far the customisations choices go. Choose different body types, skin colours and tones. That is from shiny gold finishes to matt blue. You can give your characters tattoos, prosthetic limbs, asymmetrical faces – thanks to the face shaping tool, you can change the eyes, the height etc. Then we come to the clothing options. Wear a wing suit, or a totally crazy pink morph suit, the choice is yours.

Saints Row vehicle customisations

Car? Chopper? Bike? Boat? You want it, they got it in the colour or style you want. With a host of cars, bikes, of which there are 80 types of car alone, along with plenty more vehicle types. Players can customise setups, for on-road and off-road, body kits, alloy and tyre. In this new Saints Row, there are 80 different cars! All of which can be collected by the player, and customised even down to the sound of the engine. Staying true to the crazy Saints Row we all know an love, players can unlock abilities to assist them on their quest to dominate Santo Ileso. Tow objects to launch at and obliterate your enemies, or move heavy cargo. Equip ejector seats to evade and launch your own attack. And chase down or get away from anyone with nitrous oxide boosters.

Customise your Saints like never before

Taking over Santo Ileso on your own, awesome though you may be, will be nigh on impossible without your homies to watch your back. And you can’t have them representing dressed in rags… Actually, you probably can. So basically, you can fit out your Saints to look as good, bad or utterly outrageous as you want. Because what mob boss doesn’t have a pimped out entourage?

Saints Row HQ and gun customisations

At HQ you can plan the expansion of your ’empire’ with a war map. Players can pimp their bases out with a tonne of customisation options. Statues, fountains the lot. And they aren’t limited to HQ either, which is pretty cool. As you expand your influence over the city, it is possible to change buildings and add your own vanity projects in. More of these are unlocked or discovered by playing the game. When it comes to guns, you can colour, design or recase whatever you like. For example, you could be walking around with a guitar case, with a bazooka or RPG inside. Talk about concealed weapons.

Plenty to look forward to in the rebooted Saints Row

Besides the fact that we’ve missed Saints Row and a new game is very welcome, it seems that Volition are bringing plenty of new features to the game. The amount of choice in customisation is quite staggering. If we had one criticism it is that we might spend more time customising our characters and base than being a badass. Excited to play this one! Watch the full deep dive for yourselves here:
