We recently saw a new announcement video detailing new features for what is to come on the next Xbox system update. As usual the members of the Xbox Preview program will be able to test out the new layout as of now, though be expected to be testing the build and finding bugs. This is the main reason for the preview program, if you are not keen on possible crashes and things not working properly then hold off and wait for the actual build to roll out onto consoles later in the summer.
New features to arrive include the Cortana voice commands which will replace the Kinect Prompt “Xbox” instead it will be replaced with “Hey Cortana …..” which will hopefully stop some annoying Kinect takeovers halfway through a game.
If you do not have a Kinect do not worry, the Xbox update will allow you to use a headset to interact and use voice commands on the Xbox One as well. This renders the Kinect even more obsolete unfortunately, but allows people to access some of the Xbox One’s fantastic voice commands instead of button short cuts.
The Xbox One friends list will even receive an update, if you have friends using Windows 10 or the Xbox App you will be able to see what they are playing regardless if it is a Steam game or mobile game. Players can party chat and message Windows 10 users which is handy for people wanting to keep in touch, though your friends might not be on Xbox.
