All right, it’s the New Year. We’ve arrived. And…well, yeah, everything could be better. But the good news is that we have plenty of games to keep us busy, especially with a number of gems arriving so late in 2025. But enough talk about last year. There’s fresh stuff on the horizon, and that means new games are inbound.
So what games should we play? Obviously everyone’s made their choices, but it’s time for ours. Here are five games that we can’t wait to play in 2026, if only because we’re keen on what they have to offer. That and, hey, we like having fun with things. Nothing wrong with having fun right now, yeah?
(Note: we didn’t include Grand Theft Auto VI on this list because, hey, is it even going to come out this year? Besides, we wanted to save room for other potential hits.)
2026 Game #1: Forza Horizon 6
Playground Games already nailed the Forza Horizon formula with its first few releases, which has now culminated with the beautiful Forza Horizon 5. But you haven’t seen anything yet, as the series officially heads to Japan with Forza Horizon 6. And…wow. The game just looks spectacular at this point, with a wide selection of vehicles and open terrain to race across. Plus the culture is said to be off the charts (dude, a Gundam?!) and the options to take on others should be limitless. It arrives in May for PC and Xbox, and later in the year for PlayStation 5. Best get your practice in now.
2026 Game #2: Knight’s Path
When’s the last time that you actually got to play as a knight learning the ropes and eventually becoming the stuff of legend? Sure, Elden Ring let you earn your stripes, but we’re actually talking about growing into a great experience. That’s where Knight’s Path comes into play. Due for release this year, this small but wild-looking project has visceral combat working for it, along with beautiful visuals. And, hey, the characters look remarkable, despite what a certain few think about the approach. It’s all about getting medieval, and we can’t wait to jump into this world. A knight’s tale, indeed. You can wishlist on Steam here.
2026 Game #3: He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: Dragon Pearl of Destruction
The new Masters of the Universe film has certainly left some folks divided, but we can’t wait to grab some popcorn and check it out. But did we also forget that Limited Run Games is working on an old-school He-Man brawler as well? Dragon Pearl of Destruction looks to carry the vibe of the classic 80s series, finely tuned into a beat-em-up that Skeletor might even like (if he was featured, of course). Plus the music sounds spot on, and, hey, there should be some options galore. Now we just need a physical edition with a collector’s box where Adam just laughs for 24 hours straight. (I’m kidding, just make us a good game, thank you.)
2026 Game #4: Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight
Man, Travellers Tales really knows their Lego stuff. Some of us are still playing Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga like it’s going out of style. But their next game, Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, looks truly dialed in. Featuring a style that mimics only the best kind of Batman Arkham games, Legacy will no doubt be a wonder for all ages of players. Not to mention that the visuals look truly unreal. This could be just the type of game that almost washes the taste of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League out of our mouths. Almost.
2026 Game #5: John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando
It’s about time the legendary director of Halloween and Big Trouble In Little China made the foray into video games. (Though we did like the video game adaptation of The Thing.) Toxic Commando looks like a party, a multiplayer shooter with balls-out insane action and the kind of weaponry you could only dream up in your sleep. Plus it has Saber Interactive’s magical development touch, which means the Space Marine II squad. That means talent, and we’re on board when talent does its thing. Give us the Toxic Commando!
2026 Game #6: Bubsy 4D
No, you’re not seeing things. We’re here for Bubsy. And, no, Atari did not give us a fur-covered car as compensation for the push (though that would be hilarious – even the bumpers). We just like Bubsy 4D because of one simple name – Fabraz. The talented indie dev is putting his touch on the classic platforming franchise, and as a result, it’s ready to shine. The demo left us very impressed, and the attitude that the character is giving is as fresh as ever. We don’t have to wait long to take the journey either, since it’s set for a release in May. Hey…what can possibly go wrong?
2026 Game #7: Wolverine
Hot Marvel license? Check. The savvy developers at Insomniac Games? Check. And one of the most dangerous comic book characters in existence? Triple check. Wolverine is back, carving up foes with the same level of adrenaline as the classic X-Men Origins: Wolverine. But this time, he’s got the power of the PS5 on his side, which means the game will look crazier and bloodier than ever before. Now we just hope some legendary foes will show up to put the hero through his paces. Let’s go, bub.
