Larry Hryb a.k.a. Major Nelson today announced on his blog that there will be a pair of new audio device options for Xbox One.

First piece of new hardware is the Xbox One Stereo Headset.

The headset will offer a premium audio experience for both game and chat audio. It will offer a full-range (20Hz-20kHz) audio spectrum to ensure that gamers will enjoy the deepest bass and the clearest high frequencies. The Stereo Headset pairs this audio experience with a ‘unidirectional microphone taking advantage of Xbox One’s Skype-powered chat audio codec’. What this means is that you are able to clearly capture voice and with the over-the-ear speakers allow you to remain comfortable during long sessions on the Xbox One.

This headset will allow fans of Xbox immerse themselves in their games and play at whatever volume they want to. You can add in-game audio by connecting the Headset to the back of the Xbox One or to your TV via RCA cables (these are not included). The headset is for use with stereo headsets with 3.5mm audio jack or Xbox 360 gaming headsets with 2.5mm chat cable.

In addition, these headphones come with a detachable Stereo Headset Adapter, which allows you to take control of the audio functions.

This adapter allows you to balance the game and chat audio levels to hear what you want, control the master volume and mute the microphone easily with a touch of a button. To use the adapter, you simply connect it to your controller and connect the headset to enable chat audio. This Adapter will also ship separately worldwide in early March.

The Xbox One Stereo Headset does not use separate batteries and is powered through the wireless controller. In addition, it is compatible with mobile devices, tablets and PC/Mac.

The Xbox One Stereo Headset will cost $79.99 (MSRP).

The Xbox One Stereo Headset Adapter will cost $24.99 (MSRP).

For more details on the Xbox One Stereo Headset Adapter and for additional requirements for full functionality visit Compatible Headsets to see these requirements.

Both the Headset and the Adapter will be available in Xbox One markets worldwide in early March.
