Games with Gold announcement time for anyone looking forward to your free games in a few days. Unfortunately there’s no bumper edition or E3 celebration, but we do have some pretty awesome titles coming to Xbox One and Xbox 360 this June.
For the 3rd month in a row, Pool Nation FX is still available for free on the Xbox One, so if you’ve missed it and you like Pool (and there’s a TON of different rule sets if you don’t like just one way of playing) then go grab it! Considering this is the 3rd time it’s been available, it’s likely it will go away after June is done.
In terms of the other game for Xbox One this month, we’re getting a brand new game on it’s release: Massive Chalice. A game from Double Fine (Broken Age, Brutal Legend) that was Kickstarted back in May of 2013, Massive Chalice is a turn based strategy game set in a Fantasy universe from Brad Muir, who previously worked on Trenched (*cough* I mean Iron Brigade). This is quite exciting for me at least, and it could be another great hit like we’ve seen in the recent months.
Xbox 360 owners, don’t you fret, you’re getting a couple great games too. The first half of the month see’s Avalanche Studios’ Just Cause 2 hitting your Games with Gold section. An open world shooter focused on massive destruction, Just Cause 2 has a great grappling hook mechanic that you can use to traverse the island faster, rope things together and generally cause a lot of mayhem. This is a great pick for June as it also means people will have a Just Cause fresh in the mind for the 3rd game coming out soon.
The second half of the month see’s the newest entry in the Thief franchise from Eidos Montreal. A stealth focused first person shooter in a dark, grim setting, Thief is all about, well, being a thief. It’s focus on being quite and not directly engaging opponents makes for an interesting and fun stealth game.
