The XBLG Game of the Year for 2016 was not an easy one to pick, we found there was a vast number of titles we enjoyed playing last year. There was everything ranging from RPG to Driving simulators and a lot in between, when it boiled down to the staff vote though it appeared there was one clear winner.

Titanfall 2 was a game that not only brought fast paced multiplayer action that still brings us back to the virtual battlefields, it also brought us a campaign that was compelling and not just a half hearted effort to flesh out a game. The game extended on the original by bringing purpose built titans to the battlefield instead of interchangeable chassis from the original game. Combined with an enjoyable and tasking campaign which sometimes got a little emotional, the game was clearly something special. The most unfortunate thing about the game was it was released the same time as another EA published game which was Battlefield 1.
New pilot skills and weapons made the game interesting and kept online play exciting and sometimes infuriating, the game may have rid some features from its first incarnation but overall the second outing for Titanfall is a major step in the right direction. A beautiful blend of fast paced, wall running and gunning combined with tactical titan combat makes the battlefield a complicated and intense playground for a large array of game modes.
