The WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) is watched by millions every year.

With 3-5 shows weekly, with a Pay Per View each month, it’s raking in the cash. But it’s clear that they aren’t putting much into their annual game series.

After switching publishers from the recently departed THQ to 2K Games, WWE 2K14 was released to a wave of disappointment from fans.

Much of the content was still the same with a few superstars just receiving a new texture and little else, keeping the same moves, animations and attire’s, fans were not happy about paying £40 for what could of easily been DLC for the previous game, WWE 13

With the launch of the WWE Network, a Netflix like service for Future, past and present WWE content, it seems that even less focus will be on the WWE Video Game this year, and they will most likely use this to promote the network as much as possible, along with in game adverts that will never go away, like the current sponsors in WWE 2K14 from last year.

The past few years of the games have included little changes except for the games main story-line, which for the past new years has been about past superstars rather than current.

Another problem that gamers have is the Xbox Live part of the game.

The Content Creator suite allows you to download and upload created Superstars, entrances, story lines, and move sets. But the suite crashing and the slow uploading/downloading speeds which often strike can make the service unusable.

And only 20% of people that buy the game use the Online match services often. The game is often full with hackers, glitches, and people who are desperate to get the win anyway possible, from using a weapon any way possible, spamming the same moves over and over again, to always attacking the in-ring competitors while you are tagged out in team matches.

The constant lag means you have to press the button 1-2 seconds before the action is completed, causing for unplayable matches.

Could this be the coming end for the WWE Video game franchise, or do they need to take a year off to produce more content and make the game worth buying again.
