Get ready Commander, not only is XCOM: Enemy Unknown coming to Games with Gold  and backwards compatibly but now XCOM 2 is coming to consoles on September 9th.

I hope the console version allows players to create avatars and share them via friends.

If you haven’t played XCOM 2 on PC or any of the predecessors then you are in for a treat. This sci-fi tactical squad shooter pits you as the commander of the XCOM division, an organisation formed to fight the invading alien threat.

XCOM 2 is after the events of XCOM: Enemy Unknown with the player leading a rebellion against the Alien overlords. The Aliens have taken over the world and now you are fighting back. With huge graphical upgrades and more customization for characters the stakes are high. The battles are increasingly difficult and all the aliens big and small will challenge your battle tactics.

Commanders now have an Alien ship as a base of operation, you are the hunter and the hunted.

XCOM 2 has yet to receive any DLC or expansions on PC so perhaps E3 will reveal some new and upcoming developments to the title and perhaps we will see them released with the console version. Currently, there are hours of play available in XCOM 2 and the being able to customize troops is always entertaining. Create your friends and command them as a leader, or create your enemies and throw them against exploding cars (I won’t judge).

In my time playing XCOM 2 I have always found myself with a host of stories to share with friends. The odds can often leave you infuriated but when the flawless result appears, its worth it.
