If you’re one of the few members of the community previewing Xbox One updates, you’ll know about this one. If you’re like me and this little tidbit of news slipped your radar this week – no worries, I have that tidbit right here. A new system update, which is currently available for preview if you have early access, will contain three new features.
In the last month or two, Microsoft have been pretty generous with their updates, information and general good news. This week, the update includes the following three features:
- Blu-ray player supports 50 Hz video output for content recorded at 50 Hz. This seems to me like something that should have already been a thing, but I am happy for it to now be a thing. The current Blu-ray settings are set at 24 Hz, which is said to be the natural frame rate for watching films. The blu-ray app will be updated to make this change.
- Controller and headset adaptor firmware updates. This update simply promises reduced audio static and improved wireless connectivity.
- Silent reboot after system updates and system update on demand now available. After the update, if your console is on Instant On Mode, it will return to standby when the update is complete. This is pretty neat, as it means you won’t have to power on your console after the update. This feature, however, can be changed in the system settings.
