Hey, kids, remember Time Crisis? The Bandai Namco arcade game was a huge hit long ago, and also saw successful home ports on PlayStation and Arcade1up. But where’s the modern day love for it? Well, don’t worry, Tassei Denki has you covered.
The company has announced that it has scored a licensing deal with Bandai Namco to bring the Time Crisisexperience back home. This time, however, with a modern “plug and play” experience called G’AIM’E.
The company introduced a Kickstarter that will launch on June 24th. With it, it hopes to fund the home system, which will also include both Steel Gunner games and the first Point Blank in higher tiers. (Hopefully an update adds the other games in the series.)
Using a simple “plug and play” experience with a high-resolution camera and AI, aiming with the included gun controllers should be a cinch. What’s more, the reload and “hide” functions should be no problem as well.
“Tassei Denki’s vision with G’AIM’E is to take the first step towards reviving classic light-gun controllers. In today’s gaming world, where racing wheels, fight sticks, and other specialized controllers thrive, it feels wrong that light-guns have all but disappeared from the modern games room,” the company notes on its Kickstarter page.
“With your support, we can bring back light-gun gaming as a staple of home entertainment!”
We’re all for this. After all, if this is a success, we could see other shooting games follow suit. How about a Virtua Cop collection? Or dare we dream about the return of House of the Dead to the home market?
