Today could be seen as the mark of Destiny finally becoming a proper full game instead of an “early access” game (Thanks to fellow XBLG writer Chris Peebles for that summary of Destiny). The game has now been out over a year and today marks the release of the 3rd downloadable content for the games which is titled The Taken King.

The Taken King seems to follow on the story left from Destiny’s first DLC The Dark Below, where the father of the Crota (who was your enemy in DLC 1) has arrived to reign down his wrath on the guardians responsible for the death of his child.
The Taken King DLC is supposed to be double the size of the games existing content and looks to add many more dimensions to the games rather flat and bland existence prior to this latest DLC.

If people had loaded up the game in the previous week you will have noticed the 17GB update to the game which has changed many of the games existing mechanics, but also has rewards for players for sticking though the first year of the game.

Developers Bungie and publisher Activision have publicly told the world that their plan for Destiny spans a 10 year time line, so The Taken King is not the end of the story but yet possibly the beginning. If you are interested on the more controversial side of Destiny then I recommend checking out a previous Destiny article here.

If you are interested in checking out The Taken King then head over to Xbox.com and search for “Destiny”.

Destiny is still supporting its Xbox 360 as well as its Xbox One version with all game updates and DLC as well. Destiny: The Taken King is NOT part of the season pass content and must be purchased separately
