The first episode of Telltale’s Minecraft: Story Mode, ‘The Order of the Stone’, will be available to download digitally from the Xbox One Games Store on Tuesday 13th October. And for the first time for a Telltale Games property, a physical version of the game will be available soon after. You can buy a disc copy of Minecraft: Story Mode at retail two weeks after the digital version on 30th October and is equivalent to purchasing a season pass; the disc will only have the first episode but as successive episodes are released, they will be available download via updates.

Minecraft: Story Mode takes the multi-million-selling cultural phenomenon Minecraft and attempts to embody its spirit in a narrative adventure. The game tells the story of a group of friends led by main character Jesse who can either be customised as a male or female character; a first in Telltale history. They embark on a quest to save the world of Minecraft by finding The Order of the Stone. A light-hearted and family-friendly romp, Minecraft: Story mode adopts the tone of 80s films such as The Goonies that mix comedy with action. Lending their vocals to the game are well-known actors such as Corey Feldman, Ashley Johnson, Dave Fennoy, Patton Oswalt and Scott Porter. The game intends to appease fans of Markus ‘Notch’ Persson’s invention with references to its lore and mechanics but also welcome newcomers to the property at the same time.
