I don’t do horror games. I really don’t. I will happily sit and watch a horror film, and I’ll even watch folk play horror games. But sitting all alone in the dark, playing any sort of horror game is a no-go for me. Put it this way – I struggled with The Last Of Us, and have attempted to sit through Amnesia far too many times. The Evil Within is no exception. Shinji Mikami, known as the father of survival horror, brings us this latest title which is said to “embody the meaning of pure survival horror.” That in itself is a strong statement to make, and the developers are using Twitter to #bringbackhorror.
The new gameplay trailer for this third-person survival horror is terrifying, and only shows brief glimpses and hints at the story. We even get a look at the games most terrifying villain – Boxman. Check out the trailer below and see for yourself.
So Boxman looks pretty frightening in my opinion, even though his name doesn’t sound equally as scary. The player takes on the role of Detective Sebastian Castellanos who, while investigating a murder scene, encounters something unnatural at the scene. Sebastian is then knocked unconscious and wakes up in a world where terrifying creatures walk among the dead.
