Herein lies all that you need to know about the Elder Scrolls Online, and all that you need to make the decision of whether or not you should buy this game. Keep in mind that some nerd on the internet you don’t know has gone to the effort of putting everything you need in one location for you, so if you feel too lazy to watch all the videos or read all of this than you can just go drink some Skooma

Back on topic; the Elder Scrolls Online is a massive multi-player online roll playing game, or MMO RPG, being released on all platforms. It is set in Elder Scrolls universe in roughly a thousand years before the events of Skyrim and the Dragonborn, and a couple centuries before the rise of Tiber Septum. Now I’m going to assume that you’ve all seen the trailers by now and not waste anymore of your time with those, because the real question here is is it worth it? Is this game going to be worth the upfront fee and subscription? Hopefully I can answer that question for you.

Now aside from quests and adventuring with friends the Elder Scrolls Online also features player vs player or “PvP” gameplay. If you’re a console gamer like me and are new to MMO-RPG’s then you can think of this as stepping from campaign into multiplayer, except the campaign is always online and instead of it just being an ordinary online match it is a massive scale warfare with sieges on castles and other utter glorious mayhem. If you’re not new to MMO-RPG then you should note that ESO’s PVP is larger than any other MMO-RPG’s PVP to date (now that’s a mouth-full). The battles will consist of three sides going against each other, not two, and you’ll be fighting for the faction you choose at the start of the game which will be either the Ebonheart Pact, Daggerfall Covenant or the Aldmeri Dominion and they are all restricted to specific species. If you don’t know about them then I suggest you do some research.

Summary: I have never played a subscription based game before, not because I couldn’t afford to financially, but because I am a very addicted and obsessive gamer and I just couldn’t afford the time. It is my opinion that when a game is paid for monthly it is even more addictive because you need to play to get your moneys worth each month. It was for that reason that I decided not to buy ESO when I first heard of its subscription, however after doing my research for this article I am utterly convinced that this game now has me by the genitals and will ruin my life for the next several months to come….. again I have never played an MMO-RPG before so my opinion is probably ill-experienced at best but I can say this; the game looks absolutely mind numbingly fun and I hate Bethesda for sucking me into what will now be the apocalypse of my life.
