From today, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will be available for Xbox 360 and is available via download for the Xbox One. A few weeks ago we reported that the Xbox One version would possibly be delayed due to rumours which surfaced in Australia (see the original post here). However it is now available, albeit through download-only, on the Xbox One as well as Xbox 360.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is a single-player, third-person action-adventure game from Activision, based on Marvel’s Spider-Man and inspired by the films from Sony Pictures Entertainment.
A launch trailer was released with this announcement, check it out here.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 stands alone from the film – the events in the game are in no way related to the events in the newly-released film with the same name. This new and dynamic storyline will allow those who both have seen the film and those who haven’t to enjoy the game.
Activision Publishing’s Vice President and General Manager Kurt Niederloh said “We’ve worked closely with Marvel to create a new story for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 video game that stands on its own from the events in the movie.” He then added, “We’re placing a strong spotlight on Peter Parker, the man behind the mask and his infamous nemeses, including Electro, Kingpin and the Green Goblin among others. The video game not only is based on the blockbuster movie but in addition, also offers its own unique, complete narrative.”
Personally, I find the Black Cat the most intriguing nemesis and I look forward to seeing her within the game. Her story is pretty interesting; she’s shown an attraction to Spider-Man but feels no desire to see the man beneath the mask. She has also mysteriously acquired superpowers to become Spider-Man’s equal.
