It seems that South Park fans in both Germany and Austria will have to wait a little while longer before they can get their hands on what could be the most morally questionable game ever made… ever. Not saying that that’s a bad thing, in fact this news is even tempting me to buy the game, though I’m not too fussed about crawling up somebodies anal canal.
The game needed special editions published in both Germany and Austria, because it contains Swastikas. By law, this symbol is banned so the South Park developers have acted outside their constitution. Last week the games publisher Ubisoft told VG247 that the game had been delayed in both Germany and Austria because they failed to remove Swastikas in that special edition. See below the message which was posted on the German steam page:
“Notice: We’re sorry to inform you that we are unable to deliver your pre-ordered version of South Park: The Stick of Truth on March 6th as initially planned. The German and Austrian version of South Park: The Stick of Truth contains an unconstitutional symbol which means that we are unfortunately not able to release the game on the German and Austrian market at this time. We are extremely sorry for the additional waiting time, and thank you for your understanding.”
This concerns all versions/platforms of the game. Good news is that there is no need to amend or cancel your pre-order (if from these countries). A new release date will be announced to be placed on the market in Germany and Austria very soon.
Pretty funny right? We all knew something like this would happen!
