As much as we are all in anticipation for the new Thief Reboot, to be released on 25 February in North America, 27 February in Australia and 28 February in Europe. I always wondered what other activities you could do in Thief, apart from stealing from the rich and giving……. keeping it for yourself.
Danial Windfield Schmidt, who acted as the Lead Level Designer of Thief stated that:
“The main story arc and missions are the driving force for the game. For those who want to just take their time and explore, there is plenty to see. The City is riddled with traps, puzzles, clues and rewards as well as many optional side quests which feature unique characters and setups”
Well, I think it was relatively made aware that gameplay surrounding The City would be optional, but the fact that it is more than just stealing perks my interest further. Schmidt further explained that these side quests and characters will mostly be independent from the story.
However, there was some hints made in that some of this content will link to the overarching plot in some capacity; that is, if those perceptive enough will notice these connections. As for the puzzles and traps, these may possibly be related to the game’s lore and climate, which is said to shift throughout Garrett’s escapades.
All in all, Thief is sounding to be a very intriguing and immersive game with more than just stealing someone’s valuables as the main agenda.
Thief will be available on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3, PS4 and PC.
