Those who were always worried about Silent Hills being a game that would either not be on Xbox or not come out at all, here’s some news to take with a pinch of salt.
According to an anonymous source, talking to The Know, Silent Hills is in place to be bought by Microsoft. This purchase from Konami is allegedly taking place for billions of dollars, and could be finalized for an E3 reveal. The source claims that the game is around 80% done, and could be out as early as March 2016, though if the purchase happens, it would be an exclusive for the Xbox One.
Silent Hills was a game in development at Konami, essentially rebooting the Silent Hill franchise. Big names were tied to the game, including Hideo Kojima of Metal Gear Solid fame, director Guillermo Del Toro and the Walking Dead’s Norman Reedus. Revealed via a playable demo dubbed P.T. the game was still pretty unknown in terms of details, though the demo was praised for amazing atmosphere and being legitimately terrifying.
P.T. had recently been pulled completely from the Playstation Store, not only so it couldn’t be re-downloaded, but was removed from people’s Playstations so they couldn’t even keep the title. The source claims this was a show of good faith from Konami, and is directly connected to the possible buyout.
This source, while unknown, is claimed to be reliable for stating that Microsoft would release an Xbox One skew without Kinect, which did end up happening whereas Microsoft, at the time, said it would never happen. This gives some legitimacy to the rumour, but until other sources can confirm this, this should be taken as rumour only.
