Mega Cat Studios hasn’t wasted any time jumping into its latest project – Rocket Panda!

The company launched its Kickstarter for the forthcoming Sega Genesis (and maybe other platforms?) title this past week, and it has already reached its funding goal.

Here’s a description of the game, as well as what players can expect in terms of features:

The evil Biscuit Head has invaded Biscuit Land, home of not just Rocket Panda but his small furry band of Badgers as well. The Badgers have been kidnapped and a menagerie of enemies have taken over the land and it’s up to Rocket Panda to deftly fly to the rescue!

In this fun jetpack adventure, assume the role of Rocket Panda as you guide him through a terrifyingly tasty world of dangerous mazes, looking out for Flying Pigs, Mines, Toasters, Tanks, and UFOs! Help Rocket Panda rescue Badgers that are hidden in the maze, who would follow our hero acting as limited shields!

  • Blast through hordes of enemies commanded by the evil Biscuit Head, such as Flying Pigs, Mines, Toasters, Tanks, UFOs, and other dangerous creatures!
  • Collect all of the biscuits for the highest score and drink tea to power up your dash move!
  • Challenge and defeat 7 Bosses in the game, including a giant Teacup, Dragon, Mega Toast, and Cheese Ball.
  • Fly through 60+ levels in the game, taking you across 7 worlds, from Biscuit City to the Ice Cream Archipelago, the Chocolate Mountains, Candy Catacombs, and more!

Now that it’s officially funded, the game is set to publish sometime in May 2024. Of course, you can get in on the action in a number of ways.

Along with getting your own copy of the game, you can take part in the company’s Retro Rumble. Here, you can choose a frame and pick a side – SNES or Sega Genesis – as part of Mega Cat’s push for the 16-bit console wars yet again.

There have been a number of notable folks taking part in the challenge, including John Riggs and…a plant? Hey, we’ve seen stranger things.

Anyway, join in the fun and prepare for Rocket Panda goodness when it arrives this May!
