PUBG Corporation and Starladder have recently announced the launch of the very first professional league for the ever popular PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS. This league will consist of 9 regions of competition encompassing the world, where the winning team from each region will compete against one-another for bragging rights and a combined prize purse of €1,000,000!
The PUBG European League (PEL) will start in January 2019, this will see 16 teams battle it out in a state-of-the-art Battle Royal LAN studio in a European capital city. Competing players will receive housing and travel support from PUBG Corp, as well as revenue share of the League. Check out the arena in the show-reel video below, an event like this with all the support it is getting is great for e-sports and the gaming community!
And PUBG Corp. are not stopping there, stating that:
“this is a part of a five-year plan to develop a sustainable global e-sports infrastructure”
It is great to hear that there will be an open league for qualifications, giving the unknown but hard-working teams a chance to shine. There will also be a Contenders League for higher skilled teams to compete for glory. These qualifications run from October to Mid-December and will be decided with a 32 team LAN event.
