Halo 5 is only around 4 months away, and before E3 we’ve got our first titbit of information about the Campaign you’ll be playing through in October.
With #HuntTheTruth getting more intense with every entry, we’re still a bit unawares on what’s going on in the world after Halo 4. Will the Forerunner Prometheons return? Will the Covenant Zealots return? Who are we even fighting? It’s hard to glim any information from Hunt The Truth besides ONI are covering up what the Chief is up to.
Back on track, today, via Microsoft and Game Informer, we have our first details about who have been in the promotional images for Halo 5. Among Master Chief, are his former comrades of Blue Team. Fred, Linda and Kelly, fellow Spartan II’s, will be both commandable in single-player and controllable in Co-Op. These characters, first introduced in the novels, such as Fall of Reach, have been in the Spartan Program just as long as John 117. Abducted as children, modified and trained to be the Spartans we know. This will be the first instance in a Halo game (bar Halo Wars) where there will be multiple Spartan II’s active, where previously they were all presumed MIA. (Spartans never die.)
Another bit of information, funnily enough, relates to Halo 3: ODST and Halo: Nightfall. While the team following Spartan Locke, the protagonist of the Nightfall TV series, is currently unknown, one may be been revealed.
Gunnery Sergeant Buck, played by Nathan Fillion and one of the main characters in ODST, will star in Halo 5. Though what role he will play is currently unknown, all we know is that Buck has been saved by Spartan’s before during the events of Halo: Reach. It’s great to see him, and Nathan Fillion, return to the Halo franchise, and the age and likeness of Fillion looks even better than it did in ODST.
Now E3 seems even further away, but it’s less than a week to wait before we are most likely to see our first gameplay footage of the Halo 5: Guardians campaign, and maybe even get further character reveals and expanations on what the hell is going on in the Halo Universe after the fallout of Halo 4, the Chiefs mental state after losing Cortana and who the hell we’re even going to be fighting.
E3 begins with press conferences being livestreamed on Monday, 15th of June.
