Indie game publisher Modus games have just announced a partnership with Frozenbyte to release Trine 4 on all formats. Due for release in 2019 the long-awaited sequel has been requested by fans since the last game was released in 2015, and if the CEO of Frozenbyte is correct the wait will be worth it:

“Trine 4 is going to be the best in the series”
“We have rekindled our love for the franchise, heard and seen the fan feedback, and our hearts are set on exceeding those expectations. Trine is back!”
– Lauri Hyvärinen

Trine 2 – A beautiful side scroller

Trine 3 – Still pretty, but with a full 3d world. We can’t wait for some screenshots of Trine 4!

With over 8 million copies sold worldwide the Trine series is a big hit amongst fans, but will we see the return of our three heroes Pontius, Amadeus and Zoya? Trine 3 was the first game in the series to be 3D and was warmly received by fans who loved the action RPG puzzler in all its added dimensional glory.

It was however seen to be too short of a campaign, with Frozenbyte’s response being that it would have cost too much to develop any further. So this new partnership with Modus games should give the project a firm foundation for building a really great title.
