Both Mortal Kombat Mobile and Injustice 2 Mobile are getting each character respectively with an additional load of new content and free daily in-game gifts.
NetherRealm Studio’s mobile game fans will have lots to be cheery about this holiday season with the recent announcement from Warner Bros. Games that Sindel and Mr. Freeze will be joining Mortal Kombat Mobile and Injustice 2 Mobile, respectively.
Voted in large numbers by the player community, Sindel (also featured in Mortal Kombat 11) has now made her debut to the mobile version and also brings with her a limited time Dark Queen’s Tower Challenge, new Brutalities for Diamond variants of Mileena and Jax as well as plenty quality of life improvements to the game.
The former Queen of Edenia was a fan-favourite of the MK 11 community and her mystical abilities made her one of the strongest damage dealers on the roster.
In addition, the Dark Queen Tower Challenge (available now) takes place in the past during the Edenian War, when Outworld invaded Edenia and players must fight off both sides of the conflict. Those who reach the top will receive a guaranteed Diamond Character with a chance at MK 11 Rain.
Along with the new brutalities, NetherRealm have made some key improvements to the game. Players will now be able to improve their ‘Kollection’ faster by using sliders to upgrade characters and special attacks for several levels at once. Additionally, players can choose to display their characters’ health status as either Health Points or a percentage of Max Health. The Health bar will also be highlighted when a Brutality can be performed.
The announcement also brings Hanzo’s Holiday Advent Calendar; as a special holiday treat, players can login daily to receive free mystery gifts in-game, with each one being better than the last.
The Injustice 2 Mobile Legendary roster got a chilly addition with the debut of one of Batman’s rogue’s gallery, Mr Freeze. Now available, he also brings with him a new Solo Raid event and introduces Cryo Artifacts with special effects.
NetherRealm have confirmed the frigid fighter will deal additional damage against frozen opponents, which increases when his team spends Power Bars. He will also be able to create a Frost Shield that increases his power generation and freezes opponents.
The new Solo Raid Event: On Ice has gone live and those who complete the event will have a chance to earn a 3-star Mr Freeze as a completion reward. To aid players in the battle against Freeze and his army of Cryo Bosses, the new Cryo Artifacts will allow players to become immune to freeze attacks when wearing the new polar slippers.
Similarly to the MK 11 Holiday Gift calendar update, Injustice 2 Mobile fans can receive an assortment of goodies when they log in to redeem a free player gift every 24 hours for ten days straight as part of the Mr Freeze Holiday Redemption Calendar giveaway.
These announcements should tide over most NetherRealm fighter fans over the Holiday season, as players await the next update on what the studio are working on. With the pattern of the releases since the MK reboot (2011) being alternating games in each franchise every two years, it was expected that Injustice 3 will be the next title. However, some rumours hinted at them possibly working with Marvel and a potential crossover game could be in the works. For eager fans, the studio’s continued silence can only lead to further speculation until they eventually reveal the project.
