According to Microsoft’s Eagle, not working with developers to help utilize their 300,000 Dedicated Server farm would be foolish. Microsoft have been pushing their “Cloud” ever since the announcement of the Xbox One, and they plan to continue to work with Developers to help pull out the full potential of this power to improve the multiplayer experience. Eagle has stressed that Xbox One fully supports 1080p at 60 frames-per-second and it’s up to the developers to determine what the best balance is to deliver the best experience for gamers. Stating that performance in this era isn’t about pixels and polygon counts, but hardware, software and the cloud.
It’s a positive note, and the fact that Microsoft are committed to keeping up this is a great thing. Especially now that the new generation is out and new, it gives the developers the help they need to understand the new technology and try and pull out as much power as they can to make the best games that run as smoothly as possible. The server farm itself has already seen a huge boost in multiplayer games, as they eliminate some of the lag and “host” issues that appeared in the last generation. Overall, positive feelings coming from Microsoft, with some hints from Phil Spencer about a big Cloud Demo possibly being on the way too. Exciting times ahead.
