The interesting ‘build your own game’ experience Project Spark will have its servers shut down on August 12th, meaning you will no longer be able to access content created by other players or receive any more updates for the game. It has already been taken off the xbox and PC stores and all team members working on the game have since been moved onto other projects.
Project Spark was an interesting venture by Microsoft that allowed people playing the game to become their own developer, with tools to craft the world around you and shape the AI of everything you can think of. Originally it was heavily touted at the launch events of both Windows 10 and the Xbox One but a lack of interest in the community and in marketing spelled the end for the franchise.

If you bought the game after October 15th last year you will be able to receive a refund into your Microsoft account. If you still wish to play the game offline make sure to download all the user content you can before the 12th of August.
An incredible idea to make people collaborate together to make their own games and worlds has come to an end for a multitude of reasons, it remains to be seen if another company will take the mantle.
