Metal Gear Solid 2 & 3 HD Now Backwards Compatible

The Metal Gear Solid HD collection was released back in 2011 for Xbox 360. 3 games were included in the HD collection; MGS 2: Sons of Liberty, MGS 3: Snake Eater and MGS: Peace Walker.

Peace Walker was released earlier this year via backwards compatibility, so it should come of no shock that these 2 classics have also been released further down the line. Much to the delight of Metal Gear Solid fans around the world.

Major Nelson made the announcement on twitter earlier this week.

For those of you unfamiliar to the games, Metal Gear Solid is a tactical espionage action franchise. The story focuses around huge mechanical super weapons known as Metal Gear’s. They have been created by many different bad folk across the games in the franchise. The games follow a special forces unit called Foxhound and their efforts to stop the Metal Gear’s.

You take control of Raiden, a new recruit to Foxhound. The game sees you trying to rescue the president of the United States of America from an offshore tanker facility known as the “Big Shell”. The President has been taken hostage by a terrorist organisation known as the “Sons of Liberty” and unsurprisingly they have their hands on a Metal Gear.

Metal Gear Solid 3

A prequel to the Metal Gear franchise. Set during the Cold War in 1964, the story focuses on a Fox agent codenamed Naked Snake. Snake is sent into a soviet jungle and tasked with rescuing a Russian Scientist who is working on a new type of nuclear equipped weapon, known as a Metal Gear. Not only must he rescue the scientist but he must also take down his former boss and mentor who has defected to the USSR.
