On November 8th, Round8 Studio and Neowiz showed a first ever gameplay reveal of Lies of P. A “fantastically baroque Action RPG inspired by the classic Italian Novel Pinocchio from Carlo Collodi.” The once beautiful city of Krat is now in ruins. Find it on full display in the new video below. In Lies of P the land is now ruled by foul automatons, and it is up to P to find Mr Geppetto and reverse the calamity that has befallen Krat.
The video shows a dark atmospheric setting, fluid combat with reactive counter-attacks, an array of unique weapons to find and use, and Pinocchio’s mechanical arm that doubles up as a weapon and a tool! Like in many RPGs it is upgradable with unique skills – such as a grappling hook.
This news comes in anticipation of G-STAR in Busan, South Korea on November 17th – 21st 2021, where more information will be revealed. Players interested in upcoming information should keep an eye on the official website.
A Souls-Like Action RPG built in Unreal Engine
Lies of P is built from the ground up using Unreal Engine for PC and consoles. Lies of P tells the story of Pinocchio as never seen before. The official website will play host to updates on gameplay, character reveals, and much more.
Playing as Pinocchio, you must find your way through a dark Belle Epoque world where humanity is lost. A once beautiful city of Krat, has descended into a living hell, and you must find the famed Mr. Geppetto to unravel the mystery of what happened.
As Pinocchio, a puppet mechanoid, you will need to navigate the winding streets of the ruined city. Use materials you scavenge from the world to craft weapons. Interact with the few remaining people who manage to survive this pre-industrial hellscape. The more lies you tell, the more human you become. Bringing with it various advantages and disadvantages. The game has profound narrative choices, and deep character customisation available to players.
