Today, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment released a new trailer for LEGO The Hobbit and its “buddy-up” mechanic. Check it out here if you haven’t seen it yet, it’s pretty awesome.

The ability to “buddy-up” in LEGO The Hobbit instantly reminds me of the buddy system at school. Does anyone else remember that or is it just me? Anyway, this upcoming LEGO title based on the first two films in Peter Jackson’s Hobbit trilogy allows players to “buddy-up” as, say, Thorin Oakenshield and his Company of Dwarves to perform special attacks and exciting new abilities.

This trailer has a completely different tone to the announcement trailer released in December last year. This one is more humorous and light-hearted – something we’d expect from a LEGO game. If you need a reminder of the announcement trailer, here it is.

If you’re a fan of the LEGO games and co-op gameplay then, like me, you’ll be looking forward to LEGO The Hobbit. Because every adventure is better with your buddies, right?
