Halo 5’s most anticipated update finally has a release date, and that date is June 29th. As the eighth update since the game’s launch in October 2015, the Warzone Firefight update promises to be the biggest yet. As always, they’ll be new maps, new REQs, and new game modes for us all to enjoy, so lets have a quick look at what we’ll be getting.
Warzone Firefight
This new game mode showed a lot of promise when the beta was available, and ever since, 343 Industries has kept us updated with all the new improvements. Some of these are things like better wave setup and randomisation, additional Mythic and Legendary bosses, such as the Grunt Goblin, and alternate objective type rounds. This game-type has 5 rounds. As your team of Spartans progress, the tasks that must be complete get harder and harder, until eventually, you’ll either come together as a team and win, or get absolutely destroyed.
Campaign Score Attack
A much loved feature from previous Halo game campaigns was the ability to compete against your friends for points and medals via co-op or solo play in Campaign. This lovely feature is returning in Halo 5 in the Halo 5 Warzone Firefight Update.
New Maps
Three new maps join the list with the newest update. They range over all the playlists, being Firefight, Firefight Assault, and Arena. Attack on Sanctum, the new Warzone map, allows us to revisit Sanghelios. The new Warzone Assault map, Prospect, allows us to visit a rocky terrain to capture those bases, and finally, Molten, the newest arena map, which will of course feature molten lava.
Aside from those lovely maps, we are also given a new forge canvas to play on, named Tidal. This canvas was heavily requested by fans, and is ocean themed. For those Spartans who need to learn to swim, this is the map to try it on.
REQs
What would a Halo 5 update be without REQs I hear you ask? I don’t know, and I don’t want to find out. Luckily Warzone Firefight is packed with them, including armour sets, vehicles, weapon variants, weapon skins, and other little goodies. All of which you can view below.
Another massive surprise from Xbox joined this news though, as they announced that to celebrate the launch of the Warzone Firefight update, Halo 5 will be fully available for FREE, yes you read that right, FREE, to Gold members from the 29th of June to the 5th of July, as part of Xbox Live’s “Free Play Days” program. To add to that sweetness, Halo 5 will also be on sale for 50 percent off during those dates. If you haven’t already got Halo 5, then now is the time to do it.
