So, earlier this month, I got the opportunity to review Gunnar Optiks’ deluxe-style Black Panther Vibranium Gaming Glasses. These stand as the top-tier of the glasses that the company has to offer, and we don’t mean just for the license. These are top-tier quality and a must for those that want to look stylish while protecting their eyes.
But what about those that don’t have the extravagant budget to afford its $130 price tag? Not to worry. There are other types of glasses available, and today we’re looking at another set – the Gunnar Optiks Enigma Limited Edition Black Panther gaming glasses.
They too are licensed, and come with a few noteworthy extras. As you can see in the picture, it’s a pretty good set for the $80 asking price (or higher if you prefer prescription).
I still prefer the Vibranium glasses, but this definitely isn’t a bad option. Especially if you’re a gamer that plays for the long haul that wants to keep your eyes from wearing down.

Let’s Talk Materials
The Enigma glasses do differ from the previous build, but considering the price difference, that’s expected. The glasses utilize a durable nylon frame material around the sides, so that it easily fits different types of gaming heads (is that a thing?). It also has sturdy multi-barrel hinges, so you won’t have to worry about them wearing out like you’d see in older glasses.
And, of course, you have the lenses, which feature a tinted touch and make it easier to look at a game screen or computer monitor for longer periods of time. That doesn’t give you an excuse to stay too transfixed, as you’ll still want to take breaks. Still, it’s helpful when you want to see details and not have to worry about glimmer ruining your eyes.
That’s because the lens tech actually blocks out blue light, and the lenses are dual-sided, offering additional protection. And, again, you don’t miss anything on-screen. We tested it during a session of Elden Ring and even the old-school Atari 50, and both times, despite the slight tinge in lens coloring, we played through our sessions without missing a beat.
The sides of the glasses are also worth noting. They feature a purple and white design akin to the Black Panther saga, though, I do admit, the Vibranium glasses are a slight bit classier. But still, you get good quality here, and it has the right Marvel touch. The classic Marvel logo is also imprinted, along with the Gunnar logo and, of course, the words “Choose loyalty.”

What Else Is Included In the Package?
As we mentioned, the glasses come with a couple of useful accessories.
The first is a microfiber pouch. You can actually put your glasses in these when they’re not in use, and it protects them from scratches or, heaven forbid, the house pet that tries to have them for a snack. (Down boy!) There’s also a cleaning cloth included, which is far better for removing smudges from the glasses rather than, say, window cleaner. Yeah, definitely don’t use that.
In addition, there’s also a glasses case. Its branding is a bit obvious, with Marvel x Gunnar on the package and, of course, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever on the side. But despite that, it’s a terrific case, with magnets that shut it when it’s not in use. It’s a great way to store your glasses, along with the cloth, that prevents them from getting damaged. Ideal for travel, too.

Worth the Cost?
Some of you may not see the need for gaming glasses right now, given your limited budgets and all. However, if you’re looking for a way to protect your eyes and you’re worried about a good set doing damage to your wallet, the Enigma Limited Edition glasses are a safe bet.
They’re made of safe and sturdy materials, and the performance is noteworthy, even with the most extreme games. Plus, the included extras make it easy to clean and transport the glasses when they’re not in use. There are other designs as well, if Black Panther may not be your thing. (Spider-Man, maybe?)
Gunnar won us over again with these much more budgetable glasses, and, what’s more, you can get them prescription if you believe they’ll do a world of good (for a higher price). That might just be the ticket when it comes to getting the most from your gaming goods.
GAMERHUB RATING: 3.5 (out of 5) JOYSTICKS
