The ultimate kaiju arena brawler is back, completely remastered. From Atari and original developer, Pipeworks, Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered updates the 2002 fighter with enhanced visuals and quality of life improvements. Choose your monster and battle it out with a range of brutal attacks through 8 locations, each with day and night variations. Battle through real-world cities, Monster Island, and the alien Mothership. Face off against your friends in local cooperative play or new online multiplayer.
Master your skills in cinematic kaiju vs. kaiju battles through familiar cities. Every monster has a distinctive moveset that makes each brawl unique, from vicious melee attacks to ranged energy blasts to special Rage Mode strikes. Tired of throwing punches? Why not throw a skyscraper, instead? The arenas are not just passive locations, and instead allow you to use the environment strategically in combat and even weaponize buildings and other landmarks.
The visuals throughout the game have been remastered from the ground up to enhance the cinematic experience of the original. Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered also features gameplay updates, as well as an improved unlock system, so you can unlock monsters, locations, and gallery items in any order you choose.

ORIGINAL STORY: When it released in 2002 for Xbox and GameCube, Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee was the stuff of legend. It’s a multiplayer opus with a who’s who of characters from the series, gleefully taking part in wild destruction. It was a big hit for Atari – so why didn’t it ever make a comeback? Well, a new report suggests it finally is.
Dealabs writer billbil-kun, who has correctly hinted at games that ended up being announced, has reported that Atari is hard at work on Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered. What’s more, it’ll release this year, set to arrive on November 3rd.
Wait, Godzilla Is Coming Back?!
The game will reportedly be developed by the team at Pipeworks, the same ones that worked on the original game. It will arrive for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X and Nintendo Switch 2, with PC/Steam also being “likely.” Cost will reportedly by $29.99 on PS5 and Xbox Series S/X, and $39.99 on Switch 2. A physical version is also reported to be in the works, with, yes, full game on cart. (Talk about a collectible.)
The remaster will reportedly feature a revised unlock system, with the ability to unlock locations and monsters any way you see fit. What’s more, you can also play with any monster in single player, with special campaigns being put together for them. Finally, Mechagodzilla will have his day! MUHAHAHA!
The graphics will undergo some nice touch-ups for modern console, and, yes, there will be online multiplayer added, along with the local co-op mode. No word yet if there is crossplay, but it’d be a nice dream.
Atari has yet to make an official comment on the game, so we’re treating it as rumor. However, tomorrow does mark Xbox’s huge showcase, and Godzilla would make a huge impact at that event. We’ll see what comes of it.
In the meantime, dream of the return of large monsters, because we just might get them. Fingers crossed!
