After months of campaigning for The Marcus Fenix Collection, Gears fans from around the world were disappointed to learn that it would not be happening and that one of Xbox’s most beloved franchise would not be getting a facelift.
That disappointment was slightly alleviated when Gears of War: Ultimate Edition was announced earlier this year during Microsofts Xbox E3 briefing, well earlier today on the eve of Microsofts Gamescom 2015 briefing the story took another twist as it was announced via twitter that if you play Gears of War: Ultimate Edition during 2015, you will get the entire 360 collection free as a digital download. So that’s the original Gears of War trilogy PLUS Judgement, so in a roundabout kind of way, if you think about it, Xbox has just given us The Marcus Fenix Collection on Xbox One (just without the prettier graphics).
No exact date has been set yet although they hinted that they will be “looking to fulfil this program when backwards compatibility becomes generally available later this fall”.
I for one am super excited for this announcement and has definitely got my gaming juices flowing for the conference tomorrow, where hopefully there will be some more information regarding Gears of War 4, or at the very least some more news on this announcement.
