Another week, another set of games releases. This week is a quiet one for releases so it shouldn’t take you too long to get through this. Let’s get started.
Samurai Warriors 4 Empires – 15/03/16
First up is the latest instalment in the hack and slash series of games, Samurai Warriors Empire 4, developed by Omega Force and published by TECMO KOEI.
If I remember correctly, this will be the sixth in the samurai series, but the 4th of the main samurai games. It comes with a revamped storyline as well as retaining the create-a-warrior mode and the character switching feature that first appeared in Chronicles.
You’ll also be treated to two new moves called ‘Hyper Attack’ and ‘Rage Mode’. ‘Hyper Attack’ allows you to quickly sweep through and take out enemies while ‘Rage Mode’, renders you invincible for a period of time.
The game is due out tomorrow (15th March, if you’re not reading this on Monday) and you can check out the trailer below.
Sheltered – 15/03/16
Next we have the post-apocalyptic disaster management game Shelter, developed by Unicube and published by Team 17.
You’re given a head start over the billions of people lost in the nuclear holocaust, and it’s your job to gather as many supplies as you can while you make your way to the underground shelter you get to call home for however long you manage to survive there. Fun times!
You’ll need to make some deep moral choices which will mean the difference between your family surviving or dying. That’s some heavy stuff right there!
If you can’t wait until tomorrow for the full release, you can pick it up on the Xbox Game Preview right now.
Here’s a trailer for you if you’re still unsure about purchasing the game or not.
EA Sports UFC 2 – 17/03/16
Last up for the releases this week is the much talked about sequel, UCF 2. Developed by EA Canada and published by EA.
There have been a few changes to the game mechanics, which I’ll go over in a few seconds, but the most significant change is the addition of female fighters to the game. If you hadn’t already guessed by Ronda Rousey being on the front cover.
There have been a few game mechanic changes in the form of the AI accommodating for changes in player strategies mid fight, which makes it more realistic, simulating “full body deformation”. Which is meant to connect players with their player character and an inclusion of a Knockout Physics System, which will allow you to knock out opponents dynamically. Not like your standard knockout, based on the finishing hits momentum and strength.
There i also the Ultimate Team mode, where you can create no more than 5 characters, that you can use in fights to earn coins. Which can then be used to customise and upgrade your 5 fighters.
You will also find improvements to the submission, grappling, parrying and blocking form the first game as well as a Grapple Assist, which is a visual tool that is designed to serve as a guide for players.
As always, check out the trailer below.
