Inspired by FTL, Star Control and Path of Exile, indie studio Spiritus Games have released a second trailer for their debut title Fabular: Once Upon a Spacetime. The art style heavily reminds me of FTL and Starbound. The developer states Fabular is a roguelike space adventure with medieval/folktale fantasy.
As you can see from the video, this roguelike has a lot going for it. The spaceship has a lot of custom changes to be made such as weapons, armour and spells. The coolest thing I have seen is the crossbow turrets mounted on spaceships. The story of Fabular has you in the role of a young heir on a quest to track down the Black knights that attacked their kingdom. The King has sent armies and older heirs to best these knights but to no avail. Now it is your turn to fight back.

The point of view reminds me of Asteroids except with a very colourful re-skin
Fabular can be found on kickstarter, with 20% of the funding goal reached in an impressive 3 days. The game also boasts that it will have numerous ship types, hundreds of weapons and a range of randomly generated text adventures to keep hardcore role playing gamers going.

The menu UI shows a lot of inspiration from Path of Exile, the skill tree in the video is evidence of that.
We should hopefully see some more information about Fabular: Once upon a Spacetime later in the year and I am keen to play this indie title when released. After all, its like a mini medieval Mass Effect, Rogue Legacy IN SPACEEEE!
