After a successful bout of crowd-funding, the sequel to Defense Grid: The Awakening, a Tower Defense game originally on PC but later ported to the Xbox Live Arcade on 360, is coming to Xbox One. The original, one of the best Tower Defense games lately, was a fantastic game, where you defend energy cores from some evil aliens. There were many different Tower and Enemy types to make you forumlate strategies, and it was generally well received on both PC and console, with the control scheme working well no matter where you may have decided to play it. It was also one of the first games in the Games for Gold scheme.
The game was previously announced for PC, Mac and Linux for the first half of 2014, but it has been confirmed by the developers, Hidden Path Entertainment, that a next gen version of the game is also coming. This is great news, as there hasn’t been too many smaller releases for the Xbox One just yet. Though it has only been a few months, it pales in comparison to the Xbox 360’s vast library, and it hasn’t yet gotten to the point where multiple games are released on a weekly basis. Though this is definitely something for those looking for a smaller experience, and just shows that sometime soon, the Xbox One will have a much bigger library of games than it currently has.
Still no concrete date as of yet, however, but it’s imagined that it won’t be long after the game has been out on other platforms. This year is the most likely time.
