With games like Crackdown 1 and 2 sat upon your sagging shelf the following Crackdown game in the series, you’d assume, would be called “Crackdown 3”. Well as the old saying going “Assuming makes an ASS out of U and ME” (you see those capital letters spell assume). Crackdown 3 isn’t its title, though reading Ken’s comment below we’re unsure what it is, it could actually be called Crackdown!?
To be honest it’s not overly confusing when you think about it as this now seems to be the way of the world. Take a look at films released these days, they are no longer given a sequel number it’s a nice title like “Thor The Dark World” or “Captain America and The Winter Soldier” or “Star Trek Into Darkness” etc. It’s only normal for films to follow on with this trend.
Ken Lobb (Microsoft Studios Creative Director) said, “You can blame me for 20 per cent of that.”
Ken then went on to say, “I don’t like X game number seven. It’s a good idea sometimes to have a game with a subtitle. But some games, and Crackdown is a perfect example, is it really 3? It is the future. This is a different place, long after the original game. But is it 2? Is it a different universe than 2? Yeah, it’s kinda a sequel to 1.”
“It’s Crackdown.”
So hopefully…that’s ermm…cleared up the title of Crackdown for everybody? I don’t know about you but I was happier when I was calling it Crackdown 3.
