Microsoft unveiled the Windows Phone 8.1 update at the Build developer conference in San Francisco on 2/4/2014, and it’s expected to launch by “late April or early May,”
“We believe Windows Phone is the world’s most personal smartphone,” said Microsoft’s Corporate Vice President for Windows Phone Joe Belifore.
The personnel voice assistant “Cortana” will be similar to Apples Siri and Goggle now, yes, that’s right, our dream is finally becoming a reality fellow Halo fans! Now like the other voice assistants out there on the market already Cortana can be used to make calls, send messages, set alarms, find specific locations such as clubs or restaurants, take notes, recognize music, get reminders and track your calendar among other things. It… or “she?”, will be powered by the Bing search engine. But that’s not all, the one thing that makes Cortana stand out is her ability to “understand” “natural language” which enables her to learn about the user… she can actually learn on her own!
Cortana will store all her information about you in her notebook and use this information to better assist you in the future and you can edit this notebook (just in case she gets something wrong). And if you give her permission she can can access your emails, track your location and observe your browsing history.
Whilst she does seem to be very intelligent on paper we all know deep down that she will be just a machine, she won’t be anywhere near as intelligent or have the same emotions as the real Cortana that we all know and love (sad face), we aren’t getting a real AI but in a way I suppose her spirit lives on, even if we don’t see her return to a future Halo game (and I highly doubt that she won’t be brought back sooner or later) we will always have this friendly reminder of her to get us through our day, assuming you soon acquire or already have a Windows phone, but if you do, just remember one thing for me… don’t let her go… don’t ever let her go…
