The newest yearly installment of the Call of Duty franchise has been announced early, due to a leak that involved the main villain of the game. After a few teases earlier in the week, Sledgehammer games, who previously helped out Infinity Ward with Modern Warfare 3, had been released short teasers and images of their new entry into the Call of Duty franchise. Due to some leaked voice clips connecting these to Kevin Spacey, Activision decided to go ahead and release the trailer.
Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare will be released in November of this year, featuring Kevin Spacey of House of Cards fame as the games antagonist, the head of a PMC that essentially declares war on America. The trailer teases a lot about the setting to the game, showing gloves reminiscent of Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, or Spider-man, that lets you climb walls, various UAVs with stealth aspects, advanced weaponry, futuristic tanks, the lot. It seems to be set in a near-future different to that of Black Ops, with a lot more advanced technology, though this will surely be explained when more information about the game is announced at E3.
As this is the first game to be headed solely by Sledgehammer, it’ll be interesting to see how it’s received. The game itself looks slightly improved in graphical power from the previous entry, Ghosts, and the trailer shows footage from the Xbox One version, though no direct gameplay is on show here.
