Quite shocking news reported on the BBC News report today that one of the oldest gaming magazines, which I used to buy along with Your Sinclair back in the 1980s, is set to close its online presence.

On May 14th it entered a consultation period and after 45 days it may stop publishing altogether.  It appears that Future, the company that publishes C+VG are looking to sell off the brand.

In a statement, Future said: “We are currently exploring various options around how to evolve the CVG brand in particular and the market leading Future Games portfolio in general, in order to keep successfully meeting the needs of our consumers.”

C+VG have been keeping readers informed of the current gaming news since 1981 from the earliest 8-bit and have followed the trend all the way up the scale to the latest Next-Gen machines.  Not only that but C + VG the behind the gaming industry’s yearly Golden Joystick Awards.  If C+VG ends in 45 days it will surely be missed by the entire gaming industry!
