For those of you who didn’t get a chance to try out the Battlefield Hardline Alpha Test last year and are keen to see where the game has gone in terms of changing things up due to complaints and concerns, you’re in luck, and can try out the game first hand. On February 3rd, Hardline will be available on Xbox One and Xbox 360 in Open Beta form, for everyone to jump in and play.
In terms of content, you’ll be getting to play three different modes (thanks to the Battlefield 4 community completing a community mission last week) on three different maps. Hotwire pits Criminals against cops as the thieves try to steal a list of marked vehicles, the cops have to repossess them. This game mode will be available on the maps Downtown and Dust Bowl. Conquest, the classic and familiar Battlefield mode is available on the Dust Bowl map, and is still up to 64 players for pure mayhem. The bonus mode, dubbed Heist, is coming to a map called Bank Job. Criminals have to break into a bank vault, and cops have to stop them. These modes introduce a lot of variety and differences to the Battlefield franchise, as there’s not much of these specific modes in current or previous Battlefield games.
Anyone who is a fan of the Commander mode in Battlefield 4 needn’t worry either, as a similar mode will be available. Hacker Mode takes surveillance to the “next level”, as the Hackers can take control over cameras, spot areas and enemies for their team and generally be a helpful force, guiding the action. It’s available in all three modes in the Beta too, so there’s plenty of opportunities to try it out.
All this, and you will have no level cap, meaning everything that’s possible to unlock can be unlocked while you play in the beta. Anyone who currently plays Battlefield 4 will also recieve a special dog tag for the game in a later patch for BF4, showing the support for the beta. The Beta will end on February 8th.
