Overhype Studios, creators of the acclaimed turn-based RPG Battle Brothers, together with publisher Ukiyo Publishing have brought Battle Brothers to PlayStation and Xbox consoles, and is available NOW!

Overhype Studios blend immersive RPG with turn-based strategy

After it’s successful launch on Nintendo Switch in March 2020, Battle Brothers garnered universal praise for it’s blend of deep tactical gameplay, excellent world building and strong narrative. Battle Brothers blends RPG and turn-based strategy in a gritty medieval open world. In the campaign players lead a mercenary company. Run the company how you like, decide where to go, whom to hire/fight, which contracts to take and how to train and equip your troops.

The game operates using a combined strategic worldmap and a tactical combat layer. Players can travel around the procedurally generated open world freely. Pick-up contracts to earn coin, discover places to loot, hunt down and destroy enemies or find towns to resupply and hire new recruits.

Be sure to stay on top of your army! Towns are where you are able to manage your Battle Brothers. Level up and equip your Battle Brothers with appropriate gear and get ready for battle. Engaging hostiles will switch the game into the tactical combat layer. Once engaged in battle with a hostile party the game will switch to a tactical map and the detailed turn-based combat ensues.

Adding immersion, all characters come with their own background stories and traits. Character development is relatively unrestricted. With no ‘class-system’ perks can be acquired by level ups, and by using different weapons and gear. But players be warned, this game features permadeath… Unless returning as the undead. Do not enter battle lightly and be sure to prepare well. Enemies are varied and have unique skills, AI and behavior. Enemies are not the only thing players must be mindful of though! Battle Brothers also features a dynamic event system with ‘atmospheric encounters’, giving players tough out of combat decisions to make. Check out the trailer below.
