First of all, I have to get this off my chest: I’m a huge fan of the Assassin’s Creed series. I absolutely love the games, and I enjoy the unique gameplay and story that this series offers – heck, when I applied to be a writer here, I decided to include a brief review of Assassin’s Creed III in my application. Admittedly, I have not played every single game in the series (I did miss Revalations), but I am playing through Assassin’s Creed III at the moment and have Assassin’s Creed IV waiting in the wings. That said, I feel left out on this one because I don’t have an Xbox One; I don’t intend to invest in one when I only just upgraded to the Xbox 360 “Slim” towards the end of 2012; in addition, the Xbox One is still relatively new and rather costly. Yes, I realize we’re getting Assassin’s Creed: Rogue, but, frankly, it’s not the same thing. Fans of the series will be missing out one way or another, unless they have both consoles. Here’s hoping Ubisoft reviews this decision, and changes their stance on making Unity a “new generation” console only game.

With that off my chest, let’s take a look at some artisitc pieces we recently got to see, and the Paris Horizon Gamescom trailer that launched today. First up, the trailer: personally speaking, I thought the trailer was superb! It was nice visually – the colours and graphics are just incredibly vivid and realistic looking – and showed a lot of detail, thanks to the next gen Anvil engine. The whole of Paris truly is your playground as you run around, scale buildings, and leap from balconies and rooftops. One feature of the trailer I, personally, liked a lot was the fact it simply showcased the game and had nice music to accompany it; no narration what-so-ever – well, up until the very end, that is.
