Xaviant recently made two huge announcements for The Culling, their take on the battle royale genre of games which have shot up in popularity over the past few years. From the big titles bumping shoulders at the moment, The Culling seems more brutal as it pits you against 16 combatants with next to nothing. Crafting your weapons or calling in loot drops is a key part of this title.

The update is due to roll out on 6th October and brings new additions such as new cosmetics and the highlight of the update for most players, Golden weapons. It will also bring improvements to the game, Xbox voice support for proximity and team chat as well as some key tweaks and big fixes.

The game will introduce 8 new Golden weapons. These weapons carry special effects to help give you an edge while fighting in the arena which will drop into the arena during match events such as loot Pinata and loot express. The weapons stats are comparable to there none golden counterpart however they carry a twist. This is to make events worth fighting for while not making the wielder of the new weapons to overpowered.

The weapons are as follows;

Bleeding Blade – a sword with adds a bleeding effect with lasts until the victim heals. Triflector – A trident that deals 2 additional points of damage for each strike. Nutcracker – A bludgeon which can be charged up for several seconds to deliver 60 points of damage. Axetinguisher – An Axe which prevents you being affected by debuffs. Vampire Bat – A bat which restored 2hp from your foes HP pool with each hit. Doppledagger – a bowie knife that allows the wielder to double jump. Infinty Pole – A Yari which returns to your hand each time its thrown. Lastly there is the VomiHawk – a tomahawk with inflicts sickness with each hit.

The second part of the announcement is that The Culling will be leaving game preview on the day of the update. The Culling launched in March 2016 and has been built from the ground up. This will make the title the first in its genre to make a full release. It means players will see more bug fixes, polish and achievements. Xaviantpromise though that while they are happy to finally be reaching the finish line, there is a lot they still wish to do.
