Astroneer developer System Era Softworks have released a new patch for their title. Patch 201 offers a slew of tweaks to this open world space exploration game.

The update has new controls, adjustments to teathers as well as adding new items. System Era Softworks are also moving out of the prototyping stage now and plan on focuing on larger tasks so they can gather feeback on those. With there goal to enter alpha asap, the team plan on updating there roadmap next week with lots of information they have gathered from the last few weeks.

Updates include alignment augments which creates a flat plan based on the planet surface and the planet centre, so now walls curve based on the planet.

Tethers are now placed at the players feed and can be moved after placement, this means you no longer have to stop to lay those safety lines. They are now also effected by gravity and will fall if you deform under them. They now fall over or sink into holes rather than floating magically.

The game-pad controls have been tweaked, offering greater control when using the terrain tool, meaning the left stick is now universally the way to move while the right stick if for camera or aim the terrain reticle.

Connecting two conduits together now has audio as well as work lights meanwhile beacon audio has been updated.

Vehicle’s have seen a change. They no longer spiral or flip when going over jumps or of edges and steering is now more wheel controlled.

Quite a few bugs have been squashed in this patch and a number of Prototype ideas have been put forward internally which we can look forward to in the future.

You can purchase the game from the Microsoft website and as it’s a play anywhere title, once you have it on one platform, you can play it on the other.
