There seems to be an influx lately of Games Workshop titles arriving lately. We have has the likes of Space Hulk, and we have the upcoming online Eternal Crusade based on Warhammer 40k coming next year I believe. Then we have Mordheim: City of the DamnedMordheim was released on PC this year as early access until its full completion, and today we see it released on Xbox One. Check out the console launch trailer below:

Mordheim: City of the Damned is based off a tabletop cult classic scenario. Players command one of four factions and lead them on a quest for discovering wyrdstones that are scattered across the city. The wyrdstones are remnants that fell from the comets that destroyed the city of Mordheim. The game-play of Mordheim plays out like X-COM with players allocated a specific move and combat value. With the battle playing out in a turn based manner, character placement is everything. Character classes possess their own skills and abilities. There is the feature of permadeath so when a character is ‘out of action’ their fate is decided at the end of the battle. Characters can also suffer injuries that lead to future problems but they can be customised via an RPG system.

With four separate campaigns each based on a unique warband, The Human Mercenaries, The Sisters of Sigmar, the Skaven of Clan Eshin and the Cult of the Possessed, there’s plenty of content on single player. For an added challenge you can take your warband online multiplayer. It looks like Games Workshop and Focus Home Interactive have produced a great title here. With its warm reception on PC, maybe add Mordheim: City of the Damned to your October shopping list.

Still needing convinced. Watch a game-play trailer from the pre-alpha, it explains character classes and the tactics of battle.
