Ark Survival Evolved dropped some big news today. There was a Twitch countdown since this morning saying something big was coming. A lot of us thought it was a lot of updates to bring the Xbox One up to the same version of the PC. Including the addition of the Allosaurus, a pack dino that falls somewhere in between the Carno and the might Rex. This comes with the addition of primitive plus which adds 90 new servers and a whole host of new items and buildings to make primitive more engaging.
I’m getting off track. Yes we are getting a whole load of updates to ARK. But they also bringing out a DLC, Scorched Earth. Take a look below and squeal like a child, I totally didnt…
The DLC brings a whole new map with a host of new biomes to survive. The world is more high fantasy with desert dunes, canyons, badlands and red sandstone mountains. There are a host of new creatures to battle and tame as well as new tools, structures and survival mechanics.
Scorched Earth will have bigger threats in the sky..
Perhaps the elephant (or dragon) in the room is the Wyvern which can be tamed. There are multiple colours and types of wyvren to be tamed. To tame one, you will need to locate an egg and steal it for yourself to raise, or make a nice wyvern omlette.
The skies are a lot more dangerous.
There aren’t just Wyverns either, there are camel like beasts to act as pack mules, vulture looking birds, and a massive sand worm that resides somewhere in the world. But all these pale in comparison to the fourth boss creature, the Manticore.
The Lion is the King of the Jungle, The Manticore is King of Scorcched Earth.
In Scorched Earth, water is a rarity so player will have to ration, and fight in pvp for sustenance. There are over 50 new items to use such as boomerangs, flamethrowers, portable tents and whole new saddles for new beasts such as giant praying mantis.
Oil and flaming arrows can make short work of bases. Or stone giants work just as well
The final feature of the DLC is the Gateway which allows survivors of Scorched Earth to transfer their character and new items as well as dinos to Ark Survival Evolved maps. I’m just waiting in my quiet pvp server to be invaded by some level 90 god on a Wyvern.
