Its been a whole year since we last saw Scalebound grace our televisions. The original footage showed a single-player campaign where the player would fight monsters with the help of Dragon they had bonded with. The game showed great potential and reminded me of an old title Drakengard, where the player could fight on foot or from the back of a dragon. Scalebound looked to be an action adventure that I could play through and enjoy the story.

Looks like we can embrace a dragon side and go full lizard.
Fast forward to this years E3 and we see a huge co-op boss fight. That’s right, co-op play is now in the game for up to four friends to come and fight with you. At present it looks almost like we summon our friends, similar to Dark Souls, when we need help progressing. The boss, El Grande Crabular, looks like its been torn right out of the lambert lines of Gears of War. The boss fight shows all characters fighting from either foot or dragon.

Battling from the back of a dragon is always going to be entertaining. Always.
Platinum Games have announced that Scalebound will be available in 2017 so it will have to wait for next years Christmas list. Although the way it is shaping up we could have quite the action adventure on our hands. From the glimpse of co-op we can see each player using a different weapon set so perhaps an influence of RPG will be in the game. Allowing players to change their combat style or choosing a certain path of mage, fighter, or archer.

Friends unite. Cheat bosses with overpowered friends, maybe.
