Back in the early days of the Sony PlayStation, we became addicted to Agetec’s R-Type Delta. How could we not?! Irem created a fantastic 2.5-D edition of its classic shooting series, complete with wild visuals and a great soundtrack. It’s still in hot demand today – and Clear River Games recognizes that. It’s working alongside City Connection to give the game a second chance with R-Type Delta HD Boosted.

Announced over the weekend, the game is set to launch this year for PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch and PC. In addition, physical versions will also be available for PS5 and Nintendo Switch, for you die-hard collectors.

Irem Software Engineering is handling development of the reboot, which returns 27 years after the original hit market. And it still looks as awesome as ever, based on the trailer below.

The year is 2163, and the badly damaged R-9A Arrowhead has just returned to earth after defeating the Bydo Empire, and is recovered by the battle cruiser, Croque Monsieur.
