The team at XBLG loves our Halo games, so much so we dedicated a whole month to the series last year. What we learned from that experience is that our user base loves Halo as well. Today marks the first Halo 5 update of 2016, with this update we are given the chance to acquire new armour sets, assassination animations, weapons skins and even the chance to get your hands on the sweet, sweet Halo 2 battle rifle. There are 2 new maps to be played on Arena and Warzone play modes as well.
Now we understand that it is January and money is a bit tight, worry not because the very nice people at 343 Industries have released the update for free, though you will have to open REQ packs to get most of the goodies.
The new armour sets for the update are the ACHILLES armour and the Mark V armour. The Mark V is more or less your standard SPARTAN armour set while the ACHILLES looks almost to be modelled on medieval design (displayed above). Use these stylish new armours in the Arena map Riptide or the Warzone map Urban, combine this with the new carbine variations or the Halo 2 battle rifle and you have an almost brand new Halo 5 experience.
With Warzone being one of the new stand out feature for Halo 5 it was a little depressing seeing only 3 maps available for the game mode until now. Urban is a map that places you in a landscape that would look familiar to Halo 2 or ODST players. Riptide on the other hand has a new look to it which almost makes it look like some kind of Portal 2/Apature Science lab with a tiny bit of Titanfall thrown in for good measure, though Halo with Portal guns would be a very fun idea indeed. (NOTICE – THIS NEW MAP DOES NOT HAVE PORTAL GUNS OR HAS ANYTHING TO DO WITH PORTAL)
So boot up your copy of Halo 5 and enjoy the new maps and extra content, because good chance if you already have the game installed the update will have installed by now as well. Good luck and we hope to see you online pretty soon.
